Art deco: Curve appeal

The first thing to know about Art Deco houses is that you'll get
in a fight about calling them that.
A variety of people will propose instead such terms as Normandie
Modern (after the great Art Deco ocean liner) or Deco Moderne or
Depression Modern or International, all for the geometric style that
came from Europe between World War I and II. More on names later.
The second thing is that there are precious few Art Deco houses
in the Chicago area, whatever you call them. The East and West
Coasts were their big breeding grounds.
