Fast-food chains reneging on pact: consumer group

A Washington, D.C., consumer rights group charged Monday that major fast-food chains, including McDonald's, are reneging on a 1986 promise to provide consumers easy access to nutritional information.

In 1986, Burger King, Wendy's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Jack-in-the-Box and Oak Brook-based McDonald's signed voluntary agreements with the attorneys general of California, New York and Texas agreeing to provide nutritional information at all of their restaurants, and to display a sign advertising the fact.
