Bonn fears its eclipse by Berlin as capital

BONN, West Germany Calls for Berlin to become the capital of a
unified Germany are worrying the city fathers in Bonn.
Businesses in West Germany's sleepy capital fear disaster if
they lose the purchasing power of thousands of civil servants,
diplomats and foreign correspondents based here.
The city's daily newspaper, the General-Anzeiger, said real
estate prices started to drop after the Berlin Wall was opened in
November, but real estate agents said that report was not based on
true figures.
The federal government hinted that it eventually could move to
Berlin when it shelved plans ...
