Memorial services were held Saturday in Florida for E. Francis Bowditch, 77, former headmaster at Lake Forest Academy, who died Feb. 6 at his winter home in Boca Grande, Fla.

Mr. Bowditch was headmaster from 1941 to 1951.

Faced with high faculty turnover and shrinking enrollment during World War II, Mr. Bowditch managed by 1945 to increase the student population, strengthen the faculty and balance the budget.
