Fan dials his dream with old-time radio

While most of his friends were watching television, Carl Amari spent his teen years exercising his "imagination muscle" by listening to old-time radio shows produced before he was born.

Today, the 26-year-old northwest suburban resident has parlayed his passion for classic radio dramas and comedies into a full-time profession.

As creator, producer and writer of "When Radio Was," Amari repackages old-time radio shows for syndication five nights a week on more than 80 stations from coast to coast.
