Genuine jade is carving a niche among collectors

It looks like jade, feels like jade and is priced like jade. The problem is, that carving or necklace can be anything from a synthetic to soapstone or adventurine. Even worse for the average collector, that ancient jade carving may be brand new. The growing interest in jade objects, on the decline since the 1950s, is causing new problems for collectors.
