Wendy Macpherson, a new bride in January, is hoping to add a belated wedding gift this week, the $40,000 first prize in the $200,000 Seagram's Coolers U.S. Open at Stardust Bowl in Addison.

Macpherson won six of eight games as match play began Monday night and took a 102-pin lead over Robin Romeo after five rounds.

Macpherson, who won the 1986 U.S. Open as an amateur, has averaged 204 for 40 games and has a total of 8,354.
