The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is celebrating its 30th
anniversary this season, but in Chicago this week the company is
performing in the bleak Arie Crown Theater. (The Auditorium Theatre,
the troupe's local presenter as in past years, is occupied by "Les
Miserables.")
