Joseph Beuys died in 1986. And despite the fact that his life was so instrumental to his work - which consisted of drawings, prints, sculpture, political actions, speeches and texts all combined into a single, ritualistic "happening" - his art continues to thrive in America.

In fact, the works - or, more precisely, the by-products of his works - are better known today than when Beuys was at the height of his accomplishments in the late '60s and early '70s.
