RHODES, Greece My favorite is Kalymnos - but don't let that
influence you. You have, after all, at least 12 from which to
choose.
They are the Dodecanese (Twelve Islands), a slight misnomer
since there are actually a baker's dozen. Like shards splintered off
an ancient vase, these Greek islands are the most far-flung from the
Greek mainland, falling just short of the rugged Turkish coast on the
eastern edge of the Aegean.
They have their own history, their own accents and their own
temperaments. Rhodes, the largest and the most tourist-conscious,
even has its own customs rules.
