With the U.S. dollar languishing at dismal levels against many
European currencies, Asia has become the destination of travel
bargains.
In Bangkok, you can pay as little as a dollar for a three-course
meal. In Djakarta, the rate at modest restaurants is about the same.
With the glaring exceptions of Japan and Taiwan, every Asian nation
is at least moderately priced, and two - Indonesia and Thailand - can
