South suburbs offer value, convenience

Housing bargains in the affordable south suburbs continue to remain a well-kept secret, although the area has all the amenities of more affluent north and northwest suburban communities.

While most resale homes in the city and suburbs posted hefty price increases last month, values in the south suburbs only inched up one-tenth of 1 percent, reports Century 21 of Northern Illinois.

"This indicates that the housing values in the south suburbs are a well-kept secret," said Roger Peake, regional director of Century 21.
