Many men in the public spotlight wear earrings, such as 1987
Wimbledon winner Pat Cash, John McEnroe, Jimmy Smits, who portrays a
Latino lawyer on top-rated TV show "L.A. Law," Redd Foxx and
all-around entertainer Gregory Hines. Lou Gossett Jr. wore a diamond
earring when he accepted his 1982 Academy Award for "An Officer and a
Gentleman." The MTV screen is studded with earringed men such as
David Bowie and the Motley Crue members.
And the trend doesn't end with those in the limelight. Regular
guys, including manual laborers and professional white-collar types,
