Memphis hopes to gain from Graceland visitors
|
MEMPHIS, Tenn. While 50,000 visitors toured Memphis this week
to pay homage to the King of Rock and Roll, city officials hoped they
would pay a visit to another king - or maybe a panda.
This has been a dream of a summer for a city that began a major
tourism push four years ago.
Memphis is puffing its chest over its Ramesses the Great
Exhibition and the recent arrival of a panda-on-loan at the Memphis
Zoo.
For many Memphians - especially the city's mayor, who is
seeking re-election in October - the Ramesses exhibit and the panda
