Meet Chicago's second public library, 100 years young.

Its better-known big brother, the Chicago Public Library, is still in temporary quarters, a book in search of a cover.

But the privately funded Newberry Library is snug in a renovated building and high-tech addition as it puts 100 candles on its cake in a celebration that begins next month.
