7 more Illinois communities warned on radium in water

Seven Illinois communities have been ordered by the state to reduce high radium levels in their drinking water or face enforcement action.

Another 143 towns in violation of state drinking water standards will receive similar warnings in the next year, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency officials say.

Some of the radium levels are five times the state limit of 5 picocuries.
