Pope reminds Poles of pride in Solidarity

GDYNIA, Poland Pope John Paul II Thursday night hammered on the theme of "solidarity" before the people who helped forge the outlawed trade union with that name, and he told them: "This word is your pride."

At no time did the pope refer directly to the union, but he left his excited audience of an estimated 300,000 at a prayer meeting here in no doubt as to the implicit object of his repeated references.
