Beatrice public offering, spinoff in offing

Announcement of a public offering of parts of Beatrice Cos. is
apparently at least a few days away, but, on another front, a
well-placed Beatrice source says the company's international division
may be spun off before the end of next month.
Sources earlier this month said Beatrice's parent, BCI Holdings
Corp., would split the conglomerate into a public corporation,
encompassing its non-food products, and a private one, made up of its
food companies. The announcement of the public offering, according
to sources, was supposed to be made Tuesday.
