Gills sparks Orr over Cregier

Orr center Steve Gills wasn't in coach Frank Haggerty's picture when the season started. So the 6-3 junior center painted his own portrait yesterday.

Gills scored 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Orr (14-10, 8-2) to a 78-69 victory over Cregier. It moved the Spartans into a first-place tie in the Public League's Blue-West with Cregier.

"Gills is just learning to play the game," said Haggerty. "I lost my starting center at the end of the semester through grades. Gills still has to learn to move his body and be a little more active on offense."
