Russian exhibit plays up ideals of 19th century
|
Surely one of the most notable cultural events this season, the
current exhibition of 19th century Russian painting at the David and
Alfred Smart Gallery comes to Chicago as a result of the first
Reagan-Gorbachev summit in 1985. "Russia, The Land, The People," on
view through March 8 at 5550 S. Greenwood, is a wheel in the larger
mechanism of detente, one half of an exchange agreement that also
provides for an exhibition of 19th century American painting to
travel to the Soviet Union this year.
