Managua to free congressman's kin in spy case

WASHINGTON Sam Hall, a U.S. citizen arrested last month in a
restricted military area near Managua who said later he was on a spy
mission, will be released "for health reasons," the Nicaraguan
Embassy said yesterday.
The decision to release Hall to his brother, Rep. Tony P. Hall
(D-Ohio), was made after a medical checkup and clinical reports on
the 49-year-old prisoner determined he had a condition that could not
be cared for properly in Nicaragua, embassy spokeswoman Sarali Porta
said.
She declined to specify the ailment but other sources said she
was referring to mental problems.
