Baha'is unveil `20th century Taj Mahal' // 10,000 at New Delhi rites for stunning temple

NEW DELHI More than 10,000 Baha'is from 109 countries yesterday attended the inauguration ceremony here of an $8 million lotus-shaped temple described by some architects as the "20th century Taj Mahal."

The temple of Grecian marble chiseled in Italy was declared open by Ruhiyyih Rabbani, widow of the guardian of the Baha'i faith.

Verses from various religions were read to the strains of music specially composed by Indian sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.
