Joint Chiefs `left out' on Iran arms

WASHINGTON The nation's top military officer told a House panel yesterday that neither he nor any other member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was consulted before the Reagan administration sold weapons to Iran in hopes of winning freedom for U.S. hostages.

Adm. William J. Crowe Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs, also complained before the Armed Services Committee that the military should been given a greater role at the summit talks in Iceland between President Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev.
