Iron-clad fashions make the scene at Art Institute

The Art Institute of Chicago is hosting a 15th and 16th century fashion show of sorts, featuring styles that really lasted in fabrics that wore like iron, in "Italian Armor for Princely Courts: Renaissance Armor from the Trupin Family Trust and the Art Institute of Chicago."

Once upon a medieval time, the military dress code in Europe called for a suit of steel armor. The idea caught on with princes and nobleman, even though they, as a rule, left most of the soldiering to their vassals.
