Cast changes do no harm to lively `La Boheme'

The cast changes continued Friday at Lyric Opera of Chicago as the company closed out its fall performances of Puccini's "La Boheme."

Tenor Neil Shicoff, who will appear in Lyric's "Lucia di Lammermoor" next month, took over as Rodolfo Friday, the last of three tenors who have sung the role in place of Luis Lima, who canceled shortly before the season opened due to ill health.

Replacing Katia Ricciarelli, who appeared as Mimi in all of this season's "La Bohemes" was soprano Barbara Daniels. She has sung Musetta throughout this run of "La Boheme" but on Friday took over as Mimi in place ...
