Old-time radio lives anew // 22-year-old collects 48,000 vintage shows

Carl Amari doesn't think there's anything wrong with living in the past. That's the way he prefers it.

Amari is only 22, but he's making a name for himself as one of the country's youngest "old-time radio" jocks.

He hosts the program "When Radio Was" at 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and at 9 p.m. Sundays on Elgin station WJKL-FM (94.3). In addition, five hours of his shows are syndicated nationally each week.
