Radium testing goes to graves
|
A few months from now, scientists will open a grave near
Pittsburgh where chemist Henry Koenig was buried 52 years ago.
Once they get a judge's OK, reseachers will exhume Koenig's
remains with great care.
"We'll try to get every piece of bone, just like an
archeological dig," said anatomist Joe Farnham.
Farnham's team then will bring Koenig's bones to Argonne
National Laboratory southwest of Chicago, where they finally will
learn the secret of Koenig's early death at age 42.
The death certificate listed cancer of the nervous system. But
Farnham suspects Koenig really died of bone ...
