AMSTERDAM, Netherlands A ham radio operatorm, apparently broadcasting from the area of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, reported `many hundreds dead and wounded" and pleaded with the world for help.

Dutch amateur radio operator Annis Kofman said yesterday he monitored the ham transmission late Tuesday night in which an English-speaking man with a heavy Russian accent reported explosions, fire and mass casualties.
