School Board `home at last' // Pershing Rd. move caps 13-year hunt

The Board of Education is completing its move to a warehouse
complex six miles from the Loop, capping a 13-year headquarters hunt
that underscored the board's political frailty and cost it millions
of additional dollars.
By the end of next week, all central offices will have moved
from temporary quarters to three renovated six-story warehouse
buildings at 1819 W. Pershing.
The relocation ends a string of costly political drubbings that
had the board bouncing futilely from one downtown building to
another.
