Korea names new Cabinet
|
SEOUL, South Korea (UPI) President Chun Doo Hwan carried out a
large-scale Cabinet shakeup today and replaced seven of 21 ministers,
including his top economic planner and his defense chief.
Premier Lho Shin-yong was retained, but Deputy Premier-Economic
Planning Minister Shin Byung-hyon was replaced by Kim Mahn-je, 52.
Kim, a U.S.-educated specialist on finance and economy, had been the
finance minister.
The shakeup also saw Choi Chang-nak, 55, president of the Bank
of Korea, the central bank, appointed minister of energy and
resources, replacing Choi Dong-kyu.
