Nine men in various neighborhoods of Northwest Washington were hit with four-inch-long metal darts Sunday night, apparently by someone shooting a blowgun from a car, police said.

Most of the victims were hit in the upper body by the darts, which resemble long hatpins and can travel at speeds of 200 feet per second. Four of the victims were taken to hospitals, though none was seriously injured, authorities said.

Police said the victims, who included a man walking his dog at Logan Circle and construction workers on M Street NW in Georgetown, appeared to have been chosen at random. No one heard ...
