Kadets hold off Rampart ; Air Academy hits 13 free throws late

Host Air Academy took advantage of its opportunities at the free throw line to build a large lead and then hold off a fourth-quarter Rampart rally to win 74-61 on Thursday in a Class 5A Metro League game.

The Kadets (5-3, 3-2 5A Metro) sank 31 of 43 free throws while Rampart (3-5, 1-4) made 9 of 15 attempts for a 22-point advantage.

The Pikes Peak No. 9 Kadets led 47-32 at halftime after going 16 of 23 from the line, compared to 1 of 4 for Rampart.

The numbers don't lie...
