The Folger Shakespeare Library marked its 70th anniversary last
night with one foot in the 16th century -- and the other firmly
planted in the 21st.
The library -- home to the world's largest Shakespeare collection -
- used the black-tie gala to elegantly toot its horn with readings
by actress Lynn Redgrave, and to give a fond farewell to outgoing
director Werner Gundersheimer and an enthusiastic welcome to Gail
Kern Paster.
