Motley Fool Goes From Free to Fee; Financial Web Site Will Charge for Discussion Boards

Motley Fool Inc., an Alexandria company that set out to provide quality financial information to the masses -- regardless of education or income -- on the Web, is about to get a little more restrictive.

Starting Feb. 14, users will have to pay $29.95 per year for access to its popular online discussion boards, according to a letter the company's founders, David and Tom Gardner, posted on the site Monday.

The boards are used by loyal "fools" to discuss topics including stock trades, nutrition tips and politics. Motley Fool is offering free subscriptions to 1,000 active members and employees, ...
