THE BIEDERMEIER BUZZ; Milwaukee exhibit grabs national attention

Hands on hips, in a confident stance, staring back from a photo
filling nearly half a page in the New York Times' Sunday arts
section, Milwaukee Art Museum curator Laurie Winters appeared as if
she had the art world by the tail.
And indeed she did and does.
That Times piece lauded the kind of negotiating prowess that
Winters and the Milwaukee Art Museum mustered in securing art loans
and partnering with other museums in order to pull off the
"Biedermeier: The Invention of Simplicity" exhibit, which opened in
mid-September.
