FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The road to the Final Four had been good to
Saint Xavier, but that changed drastically over the weekend.
The Cougars -- clobbered 49-20 by unbeaten Saint Francis (Ind.)
in an NAIA semifinal Saturday -- left Chicago three hours late
Friday because of a bus issue, had to settle for game-day
continental breakfasts because of another snafu and spent an hour
making a seven-minute trip from the team hotel to Bishop D'Arcy
Stadium because the bus couldn't clear a country-road underpass.
Casting a pall over the team was the death Friday of the father
