ENGLEWOOD It was just serendipitous timing. A week before starting
free safety Izell Reese suffered a pulled groin in a 34-10 loss to
the Oakland Raiders, the Broncos moved Sam Brandon from strong safety
to free safety.
The Broncos had no idea how quickly they'd need Brandon in his new
position; they were simply using an extra week of practice during a
bye to give second-year defensive back Willie Middlebrooks one more
chance at one more position.
Brandon once again finds himself...
