Less than three months after public outcry quashed a huge development project on Spotsylvania's Chancellorsville Battlefield, a new project at the same controversial Civil War site is making its way through the federal regulatory process.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which controls projects affecting wetlands and streams, is the only agency whose permission is required for 30 houses to be built on land where the Battle of Chancellorsville was fought in 1863.
