St. Mary's defeats rival in emotion-filled contest/ Boys basketball: St. Mary's 42, Manitou 33

It's no secret that a heated rivalry exists between St. Mary's and Manitou Springs.

So when the boys basketball teams took to the court Wednesday night at St. Mary's, there was more than a little emotion in the air.

Tempers flared, words were exchanged, elbows were thrown. And when all the shouting and shoving was over, St. Mary's kept its perfect 3A Tri-Peaks League record intact with a 42-33 victory in front of about 800 raucous fans.
