WHICH dish best symbolises the development of British cuisine in
recent years? Surely it has to be spaghetti bolognese.
Good old spag bol enjoys a regular place at our table - it is
comforting, cosmopolitan and ever-so-slightly classy.
And yet how many of us ever spare a thought for the city which
gave us this staple of last-minute dinner parties, student bedsits
and children's suppers?
