Ben Folds Gets Closer To Gold on 'Silverman'
|
Ben Folds's first solo album, "Rockin' the Suburbs," had the dual
misfortune of being released on Sept. 11, 2001, and -- nearly as
alarming to the record industry -- not having an obvious single.
While it didn't make much of an impression, "Suburbs" wasn't all
that different from the albums that pianist-frontman Folds used to
make with his old trio, Ben Folds Five, except that it had guitars
and felt like it went on slightly too long. Folds is as witty and as
