Artificial gill will let man swimwith the fishes
|
SCIENTISTS are developing 'human gills' that could allow people to
breathe underwater.
Experts funded by the American military have come up with an
artificial system that successfully mimics the action of fishes'
gills which extract oxygen from water to allow them to breathe.
The researchers can now start work on adapting the gills to fit
humans and pass the extracted oxygen to the lungs. Divers will most
likely wear the units on their chests, and a small power source will
ens...
