BRITISH peers and MPs have helped save a First World War
battlefield from a Belgian motorway.
The site is the final resting place of thousands of British and
Allied forces killed in the three battles of Ypres, between 1915 and
1917.
It would have been sliced in two under plans to extend the A19
motorway from Ypres to the Belgian coast.
News of the project four years ago prompted the setting up of an
allparty Parliamentary War Graves and Battlefields Heritage Group,
