MY CHILDREN disagree with me about history. I am obsessed by it.
Harry and Charlotte, 22 and 27, find a little goes a long way.
They still haven't quite forgiven me for reciting chunks of
Macaulay's epic poem Horatius on the Tiber bridge in Rome a while
ago.
Happily, however, they continue to indulge me.
Once a year or so, we take a short break, just the three of us,
and we compromise - a bit of history, to please me, and a lot of
eating and drinking, to please us all.
