HE was the archetypal Old Labour socialist a politician who knew from bitter experience what it was like to live in grinding poverty.

But times, it seems, have changed for former MP Jimmy Wray, who grew up with his nine brothers and sisters in the slums of Glasgow's Gorbals.

The 68-year- old and his third wife, Laura, have just placed their lavishly decorated house on the market for nearly Pounds 1million.

Mr Wray, a former boxer and coalman, who stood down from Parliament at this year's General Election, is planning to move to a new home in rural Stirlingshire.
