He should have been bowing out to a standing ovation from grateful
shareholders. But when Labour peer Lord Hollick addresses his last
annual meeting as chief executive of United Business Media this week
after 31 years at the top, he will leave on the most acrimonious of
notes. For investors are incensed that he is being paid a Pounds
250,000 bonus simply for handing the reins to his chosen successor.
The backlash prompted United to email an emergency letter to
leading investors this weekend in an attempt to placate them.
