THE Athens Olympics was plunged into crisis when the athlete due
to light the Olympic flame failed to attend a drugs test.
Champion 200m sprinter Costas Kenteris and women's 100m silver
medallist Ekaterini Thanou, who also reportedly failed to attend, are
likely to be dropped from the Greek team.
The news comes after months of uncertainty over the country's
ability to stage the world's most prestigious sporting event.
Doubts over whether stadiums would be ready in time and reports of
poor ticket sales have been added to concerns over security for the
