STAFF will be sacked if the royal
inquiry uncovers wrongdoing, the Prince of Wales's chief courtier
promised last night.
Sir Michael Peat delivered the pledge in an interview with the
Daily Mail as St James's Palace defended itself against claims of a
whitewash.
The Prince's private secretary denied he had already undermined
his inquiry into the collapse of the Burrell trial, the 'gay-rape'
tape allegations and royal backhanders.
Within hours of the announcement of the inquiry on Tuesday, Sir
Michael said conspiracy theories were 'absurd' and 'everything was
done properly'.
