CHRIS Evans is on the verge of a sensational television comeback - and he has chosen Anthea Turner as his unexpected sidekick.

The former Virgin Radio DJ, who has not worked since he was sacked from the station last year, is in the final stages of talks with Channel 5 about hosting a daily breakfast show, the Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Described by TV insiders as 'an intelligent Big Breakfast', the new show will combine news and humour, and is expected to go out in September in the peak breakfast slot from 7am to 9am.
