Federal Housing Admin. increases caps for FHA-insured mortgages to compete with private lenders

The Federal Housing Administration has increased the caps for FHA- insured mortgages to compete with private lenders catering to those with substandard credit.

FHA raised mortgage limits $25,000, to $225,150, in Ada, Canyon, Gem and Owyhee counties, said Pam Negri, FHA's regional spokesperson. There are higher mortgage limits for duplexes and three- and four- unit homes, but one of the units must be owner-occupied.
